Gibson   L-5
  1948

  $1

'48 L-5s with rosewood fingerboards are almost always considered less desirable than all the others with ebony. This could have been a special order but more likely what you might call a "transition" model, although they're all ebony before, and after '48. The serial number puts this guitar in very late '48 which makes sense since by '49 they'd switched back to ebony. In addition to the spectacularly clean condition, and the ebony 'board, it still retains the script logo, not the block logo which predominates after '47. Very comfortable neck profile with 1 3/4" nut and optimal neck angle, so it easily sets up with low action, or higher in minutes, and the sound is rather great, for real.
